Useful tips for trading with Metatrader 4
As with other software and Metatrader 4 forex trading, you can significantly increase your efficiency by using keyboard shortcuts. Below are the main ones and there are useful tips for trading with Metatrader 4.
F1 – opens online help “Userguide”
F2 – opens the “History Center” window
F3 – opens the window “Global Variables”
F4 – opens MetaEditor
F5 – switches to the next profile
F6 – Invokes the “Tester” dialog box to verify the expert attached to the graph window
F7 – opens the dialog box with the “Properties” functions of an expert attached to the graph window and allows you to change the settings
F8 – opens the dialog chart “chart setup” allowing you to change the basic parameters of the graphs, colors …
F9 – opens the “New Order” window to enter data as market, limit, stop command
F10 – opens popup prices window
F11 – Allows / suppresses full-screen mode
F12 – moves the column of the first graph to the left
Shift + F12 – Moves the chart column to the right
Shift + F5 – Switches to the previous profile
Alt + 1 – displays a graph in the form of OHLC columns
Alt + 2 – displays a OHLC candle witch graph
Alt + 3 – displays a chart in the form of a line
Alt + A – copies all test / optimization results to clipboard
Alt + W – opens the “chart management” dialog box
Alt + F4 – Exits the program by pressing the “Exit” key
Ctrl + A – sets all height of the pointer window to default
Ctrl + B – opens the “Objects List” dialog box
Ctrl + C or Ctrl + Insert – Copy to clipboard
Ctrl + D – opens and closes the “Data Window” window
Ctrl + E – enables and suppresses the expert advisor
Ctrl + F – switches to “Crosshair” mode
Ctrl + G – Displays or suppresses the vertical or horizontal grid
Ctrl + H – Displays or suppresses the OHLC line
Ctrl + I – invokes the “Indicators List” dialog box
Ctrl + L – Displays or subtracts quantity data on the master chart
Ctrl + M – opens or closes the “Market Watch” window
Ctrl + N – opens or closes the “Navigator” window
Ctrl + O – opens the “Setup” window
Ctrl + P – prints a chart
Ctrl + R – opens or closes the “Tester” window
Ctrl + S – Stores chart prices (OHLCV) into “CSV”, “PRN” or “HTM” files
Ctrl + T – opens or closes the “Terminal” window
Ctrl + W or Ctrl + F4 – closes the graph window you are currently viewing
Ctrl + Y- displays / suppresses date / period separator
Ctrl + Z or Alt + Backspace – suppresses the deletion of objects in the reverse order of occurrence
Ctrl + F6 – switches to the next window of the chart
Ctrl + F9 – Opens the “Terminal – Trade” window and allows you to enter business transactions using the keyboard
Left arrow – Shifts the chart to the left
Right arrow – Shifts the chart to the right
Up arrow – Moves the graph to the left or right. up in the case of a predefined scale
Down arrow – Moves the chart quickly to the right or right. down in the case of a predefined scale
Numpad 5 – Resets the vertical scale of the chart to its original default. In the case of a predefined scale, the chart returns to the visible form
Page Up – Moves the full screen to the right
Page Down – Moves the entire screen to the left
Home – moves the graph to the initial position – first column
End – moves the graph to the final position – last column
“-” – zoom out offers 6 levels of focus
“+” – zoom in
Delete – deletes all selected objects
Backspace – Clears the added objects from the last beginning
Enter – opens and closes the Quick Navigation window
Esc – closes any dialog box
